Warner Conservation Commission
Minutes of Meeting
February 14, 2011,
6:00 P.M.
Attending: Nancy
Martin, Mimi Wiggin, Russ St. Pierre, Doug Allen, Scott Warren and Jim
McLaughlin (recording).
Minutes of the
Meeting of January 5, 2011 - The minutes of the meeting of January
5, 2011 were approved as submitted.
Conservation
Sturms - John
advised that an email sent to all members today by Brian Quigley for
Mr. Sturms, affirms their plan to accept the terms of the draft
conservation easement and to complete a deal to acquire the 20 acres
and place it in a conservation easement with the Town by this spring
or early summer. They also are okay with the $2,000 contribution to
the Town’s conservation fund.
Town owned lands
- Nancy opened a discussion on the Commission’s seeking to place
conservation easements on suitable parcels that are in Town ownership
in order to ensure their long term protection. One of these is a land
locked parcel that abuts property with an easement on it donated by
Katherine Brown, on the Henniker town line. This lot is about 60 acres
in size. Another possibility would be the Town Forest parcels along
North Road. John will check on the legal process involved in moving
forward. Jim will provide information on these candidate properties
for discussion at the March meeting
Wetlands Issues
Russ reported that
there were no new wetlands permit applications on file.
Joint Meeting with
Planning and Zoning Boards
Discussed the
upcoming meeting with the Planning Board at 7:00 P.M.on February 14.
One specific idea that the group wanted to address is a possible
aquifer protection ordinance as well as other measures that might be
undertaken to protect this important water resource.
Storm Drain
Stencil Project
Jim said that he had
estimated the cost of materials for this project at $150 and the
deadline for submission to seek a grant from PSNH is April 15. Russ
suggested that the NHDOT has a traveling exhibit that illustrates
storm water flows. This is suitable for school children and he will
check on its availability for this project. Timing will probably be
mid May to late June, after the Town has the streets swept and prior
to the school kids being out of class for the summer.
There being no
further business, the meeting adjourned at 7:45 P.M.
The next regular
meeting is March 2, 2011.
