Minutes of Meeting

August 1, 2007


Attending:  Nancy Martin, Ted Young,  Peg Bastien, John Dabuliewicz, and Jim McLaughlin (recording)

Approval of Minutes of July 11, 2007
The minutes of the meeting of July 11, 2007 were amended to identify Chris Connors as the one who was to have sent out the methodology on the NRI scenic resources map. With this correction, the minutes were adopted.

Land Protection:
Martin parcels. Nancy reported that they are waiting for appraisal information of the two properties before proceeding.

Natural Resources Inventory (NRI)
Agricultural resources map is complete.
Recreation resources - Peg asked for clarification on trail heads into the Chandler Reservation. She will have the mapping completed by the first part of next week.
Scenic resources map - Jim will check on the status of a base map with road names for use in the scenic evaluation. Also check with Chris on methodology.

Old Business
John will do an article for the Newpaper on the new open space development ordinances.
Warner Aggregates - The letter summarizing the Commission’s observations on this operation was reviewed and a wording change made.
Shoreland Protection - Discussed the reported work along the Warner River in Melvin Mills. John said it didn’t appear to be in jurisdiction. Others will look at it,
Morse Loop - Retaining wall and other work in shoreland area. Peg to check on possible action by DES on this.

 

New Business
Reviewed three wetlands permit applications for culvert and bridge repair by Town. Horne Road culvert/drainage work and culvert replacement at intersection with Newmarket Road. Also repair of a stone culvert at Meadow Brook on Gore Road. No problem with these projects.

Budget 
Reviewed current balance of Conservation Fund - $120,508. Commitment of $75,000 to Courser Project is major expenditure to come from this account.
